Who I Am

About

I'm a Ph.D. student at Arizona State University researching how artificial intelligence, wearable sensors, and better design decisions can keep construction workers safer on heat-stressed job sites.

Advised by Dr. Siyuan Song, my work sits at the intersection of civil engineering, data, and the people actually pouring concrete and tying rebar in the Arizona sun. Before ASU, I earned my B.Tech in Civil Engineering from NIT Calicut and worked site-side as an intern engineer — time that shaped a research agenda built for the industry, not just the literature.

I'm working toward a research career — in industry or as a tenure-track professor — that keeps making that translation between what AI can do and what a foreman actually needs on Monday morning.

Professional & Academic Experience

Experience

Graduate Research Assistant

Arizona State University

  • Conducted field research on worker hydration and physiological monitoring in heat-stressed construction environments to support safer worker outcomes.
  • Used wearable technologies, including SlateSafety and hDrop devices, to collect and analyze real-time heat stress, hydration, and exertion data.
  • Contributed to development of The PtD Upside-Down Model, a framework addressing structural and legal barriers to implementing Prevention through Design in U.S. construction.
  • Developed AI-generated safety training videos focused on hazard identification, PPE compliance, and OSHA-aligned workforce practices.

Graduate Service Assistant

Arizona State University

  • Assist with instruction, grading, and classroom support for construction-related coursework.
  • Clarify technical concepts and support student learning, improving engagement and understanding.

Intern Site Engineer

PLR Metals

  • Conducted daily site inspections to track progress, monitor material deliveries, and maintain schedule adherence.
  • Supported safety compliance by documenting briefings and enforcing PPE usage.
  • Reviewed shop drawings and prepared RFIs to help minimize delays and improve coordination.

Student Worker

Aramark

  • Organized and stocked concession stands before and during ASU football and basketball games to support smooth game-day operations.
  • Maintained clean, prepared, and efficient service areas in a fast-paced stadium environment.
